Ryo's name as Rekka no Ryo means "Ryo of the Blazing/Raging Fire" He is the bearer of the Wildfire aka Rekka armor. He also contains the armor the Inferno. He is the leader of the Ronin Warriors. He was probabley chosen to the leader because of his large heart and his ambishion to fight. Because of his big heart probabley is why he was chosen to bear the Wildfire armor. Perfect virtue really fits him because he rather rush into a fight first than see his friends be hurt. During a battle he will not give up until it's over, no matter the odds even when against him.
